Sometimes challenges are a bit more challenging to me and this was. I didn’t want to use flowers, which go perfect with this color combo, and that made it more difficult to decide what to do. I decided I wanted to go soft and use the ice creams from Newton’s Nook Designs Summer Scoops stamp set.
To keep it soft I heat embossed the ice cream and sentiment with white and used oxide inks for the circles and the watercoloring. I chose cracked pistachio for the green, broken china for the blue, shaded lilac and wilted violet for the purples. To show off the colors I kept a lot of the white to bring the focus to the center watercolored ice cream. I used the MFT inside & out rectangle die-namics and MFT stitched rectangle frame die-namics to add a frame for the white on white.
I tried adding sequins or enamel dots, but it just seemed to take away from the colors and focus, so I am keeping this simple.
Inside, I die cut a stitched rectangle, added the inked circles and heat embossed the sentiment with white. I added a watercolored ice cream to tie it all together.
I really like how this card came out. I was trying a new technique of coloring my images with watercolor and enjoyed creating it.
