Using Dies to Create Your Own Stencils

creative dies challenge

One way to stretch my stash of dies is to use them to create my own stencils for my cards.  I used Craftin Desert Divas stitched scalloped dies to create the clouds in my background.

To create my card, I started with resizing and printing the fairy from the Magic & Fairy Dust digital stamp set.  I then, die cut the stencil on white cardstock, any scrap of paper will do, from the stitched scalloped dies and inked the clouds on thick 110lb white cardstock with salty ocean & broken china.  Next, I die cut cut the smaller stitched scallop and inked with cracked pistachio and glued over the bottom.

I colored my fairy with copic markers:

  • fairy- E000, E00, E01, E02 for the skin, E21, E11, E13, E15, E17, E18 for the hair, BG11, BG13, BG15 for the clothes, & Y11, Y13, Y15, Y18, Y19, V12, V15, V17, V09 for the wings
  • flower- YG01, YG03, YG05, YG07, YG09 for the leaves & RV21, RV23, RV13, RV25, RV17 for the petals

I printed my sentiment and die cut using the flag banner dies.  Next, I die cut the frame from thick 110lb white cardstock using the inside scalloped rectangle dies and pop dotted around the scene.

To finish the card, I glued the scene to the center of my card and pop dotted the sentiment banner and the fairy.  For my embellishments, I added emerald isle sequins and key lime nuvo drops for a little sparkle and shine.

I hope I sparked an idea for you to use your dies in a different way and if you want to use some great digital stamps, check out Craftin Desert Divas Digi Club for some great designs at a great price!

Thanks!
