Thank You Sweet Friend

Hello!  Candice with you today and I am happy to be joining Technique Tuesday Stamps as they celebrate a Season of Thanks with a fabulous 20% off all stamps and dies in the thank you, grateful & Thanksgiving categories!

Candice-Technique Tuesday Chickadees

I used the adorable Chickadee 2.0 stamp set and coordinating dies to create this sweet rainbow slimline card!

I started with an 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 card base which fits perfectly into the size 9A envelopes.

Candice-Technique Tuesday Chickadees first step

To create the background, I used the amazing misti to set up the larger thank you sentiment and repeatedly stamped using versafine for a crisp print.

I then backed this with a very thin border of black cardstock to help ground the words.

Candice-Technique Tuesday Chickadees second step

Next, I stamped the adorable chickadees (don’t you just love their long legs?!), colored with copic markers in a rainbow sequence, and then die cut using the coordinating dies.

Candice-Technique Tuesday Chickadees plain

I then trimmed the same black cardstock to create a banner and heat embossed the two sentiments in white.  I added them with pop dots around the center thank you.

Next, I pop dotted the rainbow chickadees along the bottom and for a little more color added a rainbow of nuvo drops.

Season’s Hoggy Greetings

Hello fellow crafty friends!  It’s Candice here sharing a farm inspired Christmas card with you today highlighting the amazing scripts in the Season’s Greetings stamp set!

Candice-1018-Season's Greetings

The amazing new release items from Sunny Studio that I used:

I truly love how the Season’s Greetings sentiment fits so perfectly into the Garland frame!

Candice-1018-Season's Greetings side

To begin my card I die cut two Garland frames, one from white velvet cardstock and the second from white glitter, using a shim to get a cut through all the intricate detail.  I trimmed the white velvet pieces by cutting the corners off and gluing slightly off center under the glitter frame.

Next, I used the frame to see where to put my Season’s Greetings and heat embossed in white.  I then glued just the edges of the frame down so the leaves could have some dimension around the sentiment.

I stamped the adorable piggy, colored with copic markers, and cut out using the coordinating dies.  I also heat embossed the hoggy in white, trimmed by hand and inked with tattered rose.  I adhered them with foam dots for even more dimension.

For the final touches, I heat embossed some of the individual pine leaves in white on vellum and cut out using the coordinating dies.  Using the same dies, I cut the three berries from white glitter and topped with some pearls.  I added a few more pearls around the sentiment to finish off the card.

Blown Away

I have fallen completely in love with this new sweater weather stamp set by Create a Smile Stamps!  The critters are just too adorable and for this card I went with softer tones.

1017-blown away

The awesome Create a Smile products I used:

I created a 5 x 6 1/2 card base to fit my design evenly on and by going a little smaller I can fit it easily into the size A7 envelopes.

1017-blown away side

I first created the background by inking with evergreen bough, abandoned coral & dried marigold over the polka dot stencil.  I then die cut the piece to create the scalloped border and adhered to the center of the card.

Next, I die cut the three stitched frames setting them aside with the inside and then cut multiples of white scraps to layer the frames for depth.

On the inside of each frame, I heat embossed the sentiment & wind in white and inked them with the coordinating color to the polka dots.

I then stamped the cuties, colored with copic markers, and fussy cut out.  I added a few white accents using a white gel pen.

I love that this set can be used with soft and bright colors to make such different style cards!  Easily becoming one of my favorite stamp sets!

A Halloween Shaker

This new zombie frame stamp from Whimsy Stamps new release is perfect to frame a full Halloween shaker card!

1013-halloween shaker

I used a few new Whimsy Stamps products for my shaker:

I created a 5 x 6 1/2 card base which is great for a shaker to fit into the size A7 envelopes.

1013-halloween shaker side

I first created the top by die cutting the black frame by using the negative from my die cut.  It was the perfect size to fit my black heat embossed zombie frame acetate sheet into!

I set this aside while I created the base by inking smooth cardstock with ripe persimmon, carved pumpkin & dried marigold.  I then stamped the sentiment in versafine.

1013-halloween shaker close up

Next, I put the shaker card together by adding lots of gems and spiders from the creepy sparkletz pack directly onto the center of the orange, making sure to spread them out and face them upwards.  I then doubled the foam tape to make it super open for my thick gems to move and adhered the acetate on top.

To finish the card, I added the moon & clouds and the adorable black kitty.  I love that this black kitty is a solid stamp, so no coloring required!  I added some black flock (which I have tons of, don’t you?!) to make her fuzzy!

Copic markers used:

  • moon & clouds-Y15, Y13, Y11, Y00, C00 & 0

If you still haven’t seen the amazing new release it is chock full of Halloween and Christmas!

And…we are celebrating 31 Nights of Halloween on the Whimsy blog this month with prizes almost daily, swing on over to see the fabulous creations by the Design Team!

Merry Christmouse House!

Hello to my fellow crafters, it’s Candice here sharing a different use for the new sweet treat house add-on!  It is an awesome accessory for the new sweet treat bag, but can be used for so much more!

Candice-1011-sweet treat add on

The adorable new release products I used:

I began my slimline card by creating an 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 card base which fits perfectly into the size 9A envelopes.

Candice-1011-sweet treat add on side

For the background, I inked the sky using chipped sapphire, faded jeans & blueprint sketch and splattered some white paint using a damp paint brush.

While the sky dried, I created the adorable mouse house by first, trimming the green pattern paper to fit the card and then the shingles with the grey pattern.  Next, I die cut all the windows, doors and accessories, some multiple times to get the dimension I wanted.  I set those aside a moment to stamp the micechimney & christmas lights, coloed with copic markers and then cut out using the coordinating dies to each set.

Candice-1011-sweet treat add on close up

To put it all together, I added the santa mouse to the chimney with the singles angled over the pop dotted house.  I was then able to add all the house accessories with cheesy goodness in the windows!

For the front of the house, I die cut the snowhills making sure I stamped the sentiment before adhering.  I finished it all with the shiny layered merry, a few sweet treats on the wreath and a string of lights!

I hope I have inspired you to take a second look at your dies to use them in different ways!

I am sharing a spooky sweet shaker card with you today using some of September’s release!

1005-spider shaker blog hop

The Whimsy Stamps products I used:

I begin my slimline cards by creating an 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 card base that fit perfectly into the size 9A envelopes.

1005-spider shaker blog hop close up

I started the background by die trimming black cardstock and adhering to the card base.  I then die cut the slimline scallop twice, once using Bristol smooth and another through black velvet for the frames.

Next, I inked the slimline scallop with hickory smoke, dusty concord & milled lavender oxide inks.

To make the shaker windows, I die cut foam sheets with the scalloped frame three times, trimmed acetate and placed on one side of the frame and adhered the velvet frame on top.  I lined up where the frames would go with the metal slimline die and place the sparkletz in the middle of each window.  I then pop dotted the whole frame onto the front!

1005-spider shaker blog hop side

I finished up the card by die cutting the Happy Halloween multiple times, once with grey glitter paper and 3 more with thick white cardstock.  I then layered them to create a thick sentiment and glued to the card in between the windows.

Next, I stamped the spiderwebs and heat embossed in black on grey cardstock.  Then I stamped the spiders & hats, colored with copic markers and fussy cut out.  I added these all pop dotted to the front.

Copic colors used:

  • spider hats-V09, V17, V15, V12, V000, V0000, C5, C3,C1 & C0
