Sugar Pea Designs Challenge #55

I am loving the bumblebee color palette and the design for this challenge and decided to go with both for this card!

Sugar pea design challenge 55

I used the fun Pucker Up stamp set for this card to go with the colors of the challenge.  To start my card I created a card base of 5 x 6 1/2 and die cut a stitched rectangle from watercolor paper and inked with mustard seed and squeezed lemonade oxide inks.

Next, I trimmed a strip of thick black cardstock to fit the Gimme Some Sugar sentiment and ran through the same die cut as the inked paper.  I then heat embossed the repeated sentiment  with white and glued to the inked paper.

I stamped the images from the Pucker Up stamp set, colored with copic markers, and fussy cut out, but you can get the coordinating dies to make it much easier!

I die cut three brown velvet stitched hearts and glued them over the sentiment strip.  Next, I glued and pop dotted the images to give dimension.

For my final touches, I added wink of stella to the ice cubes for shine.  I also added sequins in a variety of yellows and nuvo drops in yellow and white.

I hope you are inspired to join in the Sugar Pea Designs Challenge #55 this month for your chance to win!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sugar Pea Designs Challenge #54 – Take Two

Sugar Pea Designs Challenge #54

I really loved the colors from this Sugar Pea Designs challenge and decided I wanted to make another card using the colors and the sketch!  I fell in love with the limited edition cacti stamp set from Sugar Pea Designs the moment I saw it and enjoyed pulling them out again!

sugar peas challenge 54 2nd

To create this sweet card, I started by stamping the sentiment with versafine black ink onto watercolor paper and then taping it off and inking with pumice stone lightly above the sentiment.  On another sheet of watercolor paper, I taped my stencil at an angle and inked with scattered straw, tattered rose, and abandoned coral.  After removing the stencil I went over the sections very lightly with the coordinating colors and then die cut the bottom at an angle, pop dotting to the top of the card.

I stamped the adorable images from the cuddly cacti stamp set, colored with copic markers, and die cut out using the coordinating dies.  I glued some down and pop dotted others to give it some variety.  For the final touch, I added a few green sequins.

If you want, you still have plenty of time to join in the challenge, they run for the whole month and you can have a chance to win $50 to the store!

Thank you for swinging by today!

Sugar Pea Designs Challenge #54

There is a new challenge at Sugar Pea Designs for the month of April.  It has some beautiful colors and a simple sketch to work with!

I chose to use the sketch for my entry on my card.  I love the cuties in the Indian Summer stamp set because these cuties can be used all year round not just for fall!

sugar peas challenge 54

I started my card by creating a 5 x 6.5 base out of thick white cardstock.  I then ran a couple of pieces of water color paper with the stitched die, die cutting one in half with the scallop edge.  I ran the other piece through twice with the stitched waves.

For the waves, I heat embossed the sentiment in white and inked over with broken china and inked the top waves with tumbled glass.  For the background, I inked using shaded lilac and milled lavender for a soft sky.  For the sky, I used tumbled glass with a cloud stencil and then ran through the die cutting machine with the two windows.  The birch tree I die cut and inked with antique linen and tea dye for a soft brown.

My next step I stamped the cuties from Indian Summer stamp set, colored with copic markers, and fussy cut out, but they do have the coordinating dies!

To put it all together, I glued the purple background down and pop dotted the top cloud piece with the tree threaded through the window, gluing the bottom half of the tree down.  Next, I glued the top wave down and pop dotted the other one over it tucking the little cutie in the canoe behind it.  I then pop dotted the the cutie in the tree through the windows and added the leaves with pop dots too.

My embellishments I added are: white dots to the images, sequins matching the colors behind them or near them, and added some jewel nuvo drops.

I am entering this in quite early so you have plenty of time to join with me in this challenge for a chance to win $50 to their store!

Thanks for visiting!

Sugar Pea Designs Challenge # 53

Sugar Pea Designs Challenge #53

Every month Sugar Pea Designs has a challenge with colors or sketch and you can win $50 of their product! I am entering a card in this month using the sketch.  When I saw the sketch I saw the cute lemonade pitcher from the Pucker Up stamp set sitting on a table.

I love almost monochromatic cards, and these lemons allow me to use one of my favorite colors, yellow, almost exclusively! To create this card, I started by die cutting the scalloped frame from water color paper.  I used a sun ray stencil and inked with mustard seed & squeezed lemonade (how appropriate!) and then die cut a stitched circle near the bottom.

I stamped the images from the Pucker Up stamp set, colored with copic markers, and cut out.  I stamped the sentiment with versafine black ink.  Next, I created the little background for the lemonade pitcher by inking water color paper with squeezed lemonade and splattering with some yellow and white spray using a small paint brush.

To put it together, I pop dotted the scalloped frame over the background, added a die cut black table top, and then added the images at varying depths with pop dots.  For the final touch I added some different yellow sequins for a bit of shine!

You still have a few more days to enter the Sugar Pea challenge #53 if you want your chance at winning!

Thanks,

Candice

Sugar Pea Designs Challenge #50

When I saw the challenge for this month I knew I had to turn these cute cacti into a festive bunch!  I used the limited edition Cuddly Cacti for this card.

sugar peas challenge #50I love this festive shaker with the traditional red and green colors, really pops against the white!  To start my card I die cut a stitched scalloped rectangle in thick white card stock and centered on the card base.  To create the shaker, I ran my stitched frame through my die cutting machine with silver glitter and with a double sided adhesive foam sheet.  I laid the silver frame on the stitched rectangle and stamped the sentiment in black versafine ink.  Next, I adhered the foam frame down and filled with holiday sequins.  I then trimmed acetate and placed over the frame and glued the silver glitter frame on top.

I stamped the cacti, pots, and santa hats, colored with copic markers, and then die cut out.  I added one sentiment on the pot and glued and pop dotted them over the frame.

A quick and bold card that I know any warm climate would love for Christmas!

If you want to join in Sugar Pea Designs challenge #50 you have until December 29th!

Mix It Up Challenge #48

I finally got my first stamp set of sugar peas, the special and awesome cacti set when they paired with Simon Says Stamps for September!  I couldn’t wait to create with these cuties and decided to use them for the current challenge!

The front of my card I went with the sketch and replaced the circle with a more arch design.  I used the colors to create the little scene and heat embossed the sentiment.  Aren’t they just the cutest!?

I have been so wanting to try the tunnel card and knew these cutie cacti would go perfect in one!  I followed the instructions from Jennifer McGuire tunnel card video.  Wasn’t as hard as I thought and really is stunning when done!

It’s a month long challenge so if you have any of their stamp sets join in for a chance to win $50 to use in their store! WOW!
