Sweet Dino Unicorn

This little sweet Dino Unicorn is just one of many cute new digital stamps released from Craftin Desert Divas this September!  She was a fun one to color!

Copy of CDD September digital release card 4 IG final

To create this simple card I first resized and printed off the DINO UNICORN digital stamp and the leaves and colored with copic markers.  The background was made with white cardstock being trimmed and I used the large inside scalloped circle die to make the frame for the birch trees.  The vellum leaves and the glitter halloween were die cut using my cameo silhouette.  The green pattern paper comes from the hello sunshine 6×6 paper pad.  For my embellishments, I added orangepurple, & green jewel nuvo drops.

You can see all of the new September digital release here.  If you haven’t used digital stamps before, they are very easy to use, cost effective, and you can resize them!  CDD has a Digi Club that saves you even more!

Flying Monkey!

I know that some of us were scared of the flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz, but this SPELL-TIME MONKEY should cure that!  Isn’t she the cutest!?  Craftin Desert Divas has released all the new digital stamps sets for their September release.

To create the window view I used lots of Craftin Desert Divas products:

I started the card by printing out the digital SPELL-TIME MONKEY and colored with copic markers and the ghosts with silver gel pen and cut out.  The window I die cut in black and weaved the birch tree on the right.  To create the background I blended wilted violet & seedless preserves on watercolor paper for a smooth texture.  I added the glitter moon in the top right and trimmed the extra off.  I added the colored images and pop dotted the window frame over this.  The sentiment I die cut from purple glitter paper on my cameo silhouette.  For the final touches I added enamel dots in grey and orange nuvo drops.

You can check out all the new digital stamps at Craftin Desert Divas for the September digital release!  They also have the Digi Club where you can save tons on already great priced digi stamp sets!

1st Halloween Shaker Card

When I first saw this DINO UNICORN STAMP it reminded me of those pics of cute babies in fuzzy Halloween costumes and knew I needed to make a card for a baby’s first Halloween!  This digital stamp is part of Craftin Desert Divas September release this week!

CDD September digital release card 3 IG final

This card was a pretty quick one to make.  I started by resizing, printing, and coloring the DINO UNICORN DIGITAL STAMP.  I also created the sentiment, 1st halloween, and printed from my computer.  For the the background, I trimmed white cardstock and inked with fossilized amber & wild honey oxide inks over the beach scene stencil to create the circles.  I actually didn’t mean to ink the top corner but a smudge of oxide ink got up there and I had to cover it.  Don’t you love “Happy Mistakes” as Bob Ross says?!

To make the shaker, I die cut white cardstock and double sided adhesive foam sheet with inside scalloped circle dies and acetate from stitched in circles dies and trimmed the scallops off.  One trick I found is to use tissue paper when you run acetate thru your die cutter, it helps to keep the scratches off!  Next, I adhered the die cut foam circle down and filled with sequins.  Then I layered the acetate on the adhesive foam and then glued the white scalloped die on top.  I added the colored DINO UNICORN to the side.

For the sentiment, I die cut it from flag banner dies and inked with squeezed lemonade & fossilized amber.  I die cut the sweet from my cameo silhouette using green glitter paper and adhered above the banner.  For my final touch I added one more sequin.

If you love Halloween as much as I do, it is the beginning of fall, and the holidays, you can get the whole September digital release for a great price by joining the Digi Club at Craftin Desert Divas.

Thanks!

Monkey Magic!

I absolutely love this FLYING MONKEY WITCH!  It is one of many new digital stamps being released this week at Craftin Desert Divas from the September release.

CDD September digital release card 1 IG final

I used lots of great CDD product:

To create this card I made a black cardstock base and die cut another from the inside scalloped rectangle dies.  I took the inside and used the star galaxy stencil with paste to give dimension and then inked over with gold.  I printed the SPELL-TIME MONKEY, colored with copic markers and cut out.  I added her with pop dots and then added the lilac sequins and white nuvo drops.  For the clouds, I used the stitched scallop dies on vellum and white cardstock.  I had printed the sentiment from the digital believe in magic set before I die cut.  For the final touch, I added silver glitter around the sentiment with the silver stardust gel pen.

You can find this stamp and all of the September digital release here.  They also have this fantastic Digi Club that gives you about 50% off your digi stamps!

Shaking It Up with Shaker Cards

This week over at the Craftin Desert Divas blog we are shaking it up with shaker cards and giving tips on how we create them! My new found easy step to creating shaker cards it to use double sided adhesive foam sheets, they go right through your die cutting machine with your wafer thin dies and cuts your base in any shape!

creative challenge shaker step 1

To begin my card I inked watercolor paper with oxide inks:  faded jeansblueprint sketchsalty oceanmermaid lagoon, & broken china, splashed with some water and dabbed it off with a paper towel.  I then took the wave die from ocean borders die and die cut the inked watercolor paper every few inches shifting the die to give different waves.

I used the keep swimming digital stamp set which is awesome because I could make my fishes small enough to go into my shaker window!  I resized the images and printed them on alcohol marker paper and colored with bright copic markers.

To create the card base, I adhered the pieces of the waves with a thin space for white, and heat embossed the sentiment in white from the mermaid lagoon stamp set.  I pop dotted the top part of the sea horse and tucked the bottom under the wave.  Next, I pop dotted the puffer fish and glued the little green one down near the bottom of the card.

To create the shaker, I first die cut my base using the smaller scalloped die from the stitched in circles dies and trimmed the scallops off with scissors.  I then inked the circle with oxide inks: blueprint sketchmermaid lagoon, & broken china.  I used that same die and ran acetate through and trimmed the edges also.  I stamped some plants from the mermaid lagoon stamp set and glued them with the fishes to inked circle.  Next, I ran the medium scalloped frame from the inside scalloped circle dies set with the double sided adhesive foam sheet and then with the pink foil paper.

To put the shaker all together, I adhered one side of the adhesive foam to the acetate and flipped over.  Add the sequins, I put in emerald isle & sherbert, then peel off the other adhesive side and place your base to it.  I then flipped it back over and glued the pink foil stitched scallop frame over the acetate.  And, we have a shaker window!  It sounds like a lot but when you do it, it goes much quicker!

I added this fishy shaker window to the center of my card and then sat back and shook it just cause you have to shake shaker cards!  Then I added some nuvo drops, morning dew & simply white for a l

Hope you try a shaker card sometime, they are fun to make and even more fun to shake!

This keep swimming digital stamp set is one of the new ones, go check them out along with their Digi Club!

Thanks,

Candice

This hedgehog with his little owl friend is beyond adorable!  All of my images in this card come from Craftin Desert Divas digital stamps sets tribal hedgehog, tribal sloth, and Outdoor scene and they are all part of the new August released available now!

hedgehog card 2 square

To create my little scene, I resized and printed off my digital stamps, tribal hedgehog, tribal sloth, leaves, and mountains along with my sentiment.  I colored all of my images with lots of copic markers and it was fun to use lots of different colors!  Next, I lightly inked my backgrounds in blue and green.  I die cut the frame from kraft cardstock.  I adhered the sentiment behind the lower left rectangle and adhered the mountains.  I pop dotted the frame and then added the hedgehog, sloth, and leaves over the top.  I then die cut the hugs from foil paper using my cameo silhouette and glued under the sentiment.

Products I used from Craftin Desert Divas are:

Love the pop of colors and how many I was able to use to create this card!

Using Oxide Inks to Watercolor and on Pastes

The Creative Challenge for this week over at the Craftin Desert Divas blog is all about our obsession with oxide inks and I am all obsessed with them!  They really are easy to use and very versatile for different applications on projects.  On this card I used oxide inks three ways, the traditional blending, as watercolor, and to color my paste.

As always with my digital stamps I resized this collection from the beach animals digital stamp set to fit on my rectangles and printed them on alcohol marker paper.  I colored them with lots of copic markers and fussy cut them out.

creative challenge oxide inks step 1

To create the background, I used the beach scene stencil bottom and used a shimmer paste to give a raised dimension on watercolor paper.  I let it dry for about an hour and then used tattered rose and worn lipstick as watercolor.  An easy tip, use your acrylic blocks to add your ink to and then pick it up with a wet paintbrush.  The intensity of the color will depend on how much water you use to apply it to your paper.  For mine, I wanted a soft background, so I used a larger brush and a good amount of water.  I let that dry for about 30 minutes, you don’t want your paper wet for the next step because the tape could pick up your color or pieces of your paper.

To add more color to your raised paste, place your stencil back over the paste lining it up and tape it down.  Then you can go over it with our oxide inks do darken the color!  I’ve done this a few times and love the results!

creative challenge oxide inks step 2

For the stitched rectangles, I die cut three from fancy frames die set using the smallest rectangle die.  I inked them using oxide inks: squeezed lemonadefossilized amber, & wild honey creating an ombre effect.

I adhered the watercolored circle paper to the center of my card and pop dotted the three yellow rectangles above the circles.  I glued the colored images on and stamped the sentiment from mermaid lagoon stamp set.  For the final accent I wanted to bring the circles up so I added some rosewater nuvo drops.

I love the bright and airy feel of this card and hope it inspires you to try using your oxide inks in a different way!

This digital stamp set has some great summer stamps and you can see some others at CDD Digi Club!
