Rustic Christmas Tags

I loved the new dies in the December Whimsy Stamps release to create great silhouettes!

I used them to make some beautiful rustic Christmas tags!

1222-Rustic Christmas Tags

To create my tags, I used these Whimsy Stamps products:

I cut my tags using a pattern from my Cameo Silhouette.

1222-Rustic Christmas Tags close up

For the backgrounds, I heat embossed the Gingham pattern in white and inked over it with bundled sage & forest moss oxide inks.

I then pulled out my die cutting machine to cut out the scenes!  The birch trees I cut from thick white cardstock and the deer from dark brown velvet paper.  I used gold glitter paper for the snowhill scenes and stars.

To complete the tags, I die cut three banners, heat embossed the sentiment in white, and inked over them with bundled sage & forest moss oxide inks.  I then added a few green domes with glue dots.

These are perfect to use on kraft wrapping paper or even to go with a kraft gift bag!

Thank you for visiting!

A Simple & Quick Christmas Card

We are now getting down to the wire on getting out those Christmas cards this year and if you are short on time, I have a quick and simple design for you today using the new Whimsy Stamps release!

1215-white christmas scene

I simply used the new Mountain Majesty die set with the Twinkle stencilChristmas Ellie-ments sentiments and Ocean Waves Sparkletz.

I began my card by creating an 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 card base which is the right size for your standard or 9A envelopes.

For the background, I lightly inked the center of the card with chipped sapphire and faded jeans oxide inks.  I then used the twinkle stencil and a white pen to quickly add falling snow.

1215-white christmas scene side

Next, I die cut the mountains and snowhill scene from thick white cardstock and used glitter paper for the top of the mountains.  I stamped the sentiment in navy ink before pop dotting over the mountains.

To finish the card, I simply added some clear domes with glue dots.

I hope this gives you inspiration to finish off the last of your Christmas cards or just to have some on hand for next year!

Thank you!

Whimsy Stamps and Tombow Collaboration Day 1

All week long Whimsy Stamps and Tombow will be joining forces to bring you some amazing inspiration combining products from these great companies!  Be sure to visit both companies’ blogs each day this week to see all of the incredible projects the designers have created AND to enter the giveaways!

I have always loved the Tombow’s Dual Brush Water-based markers for my watercoloring needs and now they have ventured into making new alcohol marker sets (like copic markers)!

For this card, I used these Tombow products and Whimsy Stamps products together:

For the background, I first heat embossed the Curly Q’s in white on watercolor paper.  I then colored the water-based pink marker #743 onto a piece of acetate and used a water brush pen to color in the swirls after dipping into the color on the acetate.

I die cut two stitched clouds and stamped the sentiment in black on the bottom cloud.  For the frame, I used the negative from thePeekaboo Window 1 die and trimmed to fit over the card.

Next, I made the shaker window by adhering the acetate to the back of my frame, gluing the clouds to the frame behind the acetate, and then adding the sparkletz listed above into the center.

I decided to combine water coloring and alcohol coloring on my images to add different vibrancy to my pink colors because I went with a monochromatic design.

For the bottom balloons, I used the new pink tones alcohol-based markers and I love how vibrant the colors are!  They really help the balloons to pop!  For my bunnies, I first heat embossed them in black and then used the dual brush markers #743 & #947 on the acetate and dipped the water brush in to color the images.

I hope you continue to join us this week as we share more inspiration using the Tombow products!

To enter to win the $25 gift certificate from Whimsy Stamps, simply leave a comment on each of the collaboration posts on the Whimsy blog.  All comments must be left by midnight EST on Friday, December 13th.  One commenter will be randomly selected and announced on the Whimsy blog on Saturday, December 14th.

Don’t forget to visit the Tombow blog each day, also, for more inspiration and for a chance to win an amazing prize package from Tombow!

Thank you!

I started my backround by first inking with spun sugar, worn lipstick and picked raspberry.  I then die cut the slimline postage frame and inked over the twinkle stencil lightly with pumice stone.

Next, I stamped all the penguins, colored with copic markers making sure one was different and fussy cut them out.

To put the card together, I stamped the sentiment in black and pop dotted the punguins in varying heights.  For just a bit of fun, I added some snowflakes and clear domes from the snow crystals sparkletz.

I love how the one penguin just pops against the others!

A Halloween Shaker

This new zombie frame stamp from Whimsy Stamps new release is perfect to frame a full Halloween shaker card!

1013-halloween shaker

I used a few new Whimsy Stamps products for my shaker:

I created a 5 x 6 1/2 card base which is great for a shaker to fit into the size A7 envelopes.

1013-halloween shaker side

I first created the top by die cutting the black frame by using the negative from my die cut.  It was the perfect size to fit my black heat embossed zombie frame acetate sheet into!

I set this aside while I created the base by inking smooth cardstock with ripe persimmon, carved pumpkin & dried marigold.  I then stamped the sentiment in versafine.

1013-halloween shaker close up

Next, I put the shaker card together by adding lots of gems and spiders from the creepy sparkletz pack directly onto the center of the orange, making sure to spread them out and face them upwards.  I then doubled the foam tape to make it super open for my thick gems to move and adhered the acetate on top.

To finish the card, I added the moon & clouds and the adorable black kitty.  I love that this black kitty is a solid stamp, so no coloring required!  I added some black flock (which I have tons of, don’t you?!) to make her fuzzy!

Copic markers used:

  • moon & clouds-Y15, Y13, Y11, Y00, C00 & 0

If you still haven’t seen the amazing new release it is chock full of Halloween and Christmas!

And…we are celebrating 31 Nights of Halloween on the Whimsy blog this month with prizes almost daily, swing on over to see the fabulous creations by the Design Team!
